Patient capital.
Enduring companies.

Dunsfold Group is a UK-based private holdings company and investment office. We acquire, build and steward a small portfolio of operating companies — pairing long-term capital with hands-on counsel so good businesses can compound for decades, not quarters.

What is a private holdings group?

A holding company for the long arc of a business.

A private holdings company owns a portfolio of operating businesses under one permanent roof. Unlike a fund that must return capital to investors on a fixed timetable, Dunsfold Group holds with its own balance sheet and an indefinite horizon. That changes everything about how decisions get made.

We are not a leveraged buyout shop chasing quick exits. We are stewards. We buy companies a founder has spent a lifetime building, and we protect what makes them good — the people, the relationships, the craft — while adding the capital, governance and operating discipline needed to grow for the next generation.

Our philosophy
What we do

Four ways we put capital and counsel to work.

Every engagement starts with the same question — what does this business need to thrive for the next twenty years? — and draws on whichever capability answers it best.

Principal investment

We acquire majority or significant minority stakes in established, profitable companies — often from founders seeking a succession partner who will protect the business rather than strip it.

Growth capital

Funding for portfolio companies ready to expand — new markets, acquisitions, capacity, technology — backed by capital that is in no rush to be repaid and counsel that has done it before.

Explore

Strategic advisory

Hands-on counsel across strategy, finance, operations and governance — board-level partnership from operators and investors who have built and steered companies through real cycles.

Portfolio stewardship

Long-term stewardship of every company we own — operational excellence, disciplined capital allocation, and the patience to let compounding do its work over years, not quarters.

Why Dunsfold Group

Built for founders who care what happens next.

Selling a company you built is not just a transaction — it is a handover. Our structure, our horizon and our temperament are all designed to be the right home for a business someone poured a working life into.

01 · Permanent capital

No fund clock. No forced exit.

We invest from a permanent balance sheet, not a fund with a fixed life. There is no deadline to sell, so we never push a company out the door to return capital on a schedule that suits us rather than the business.

02 · Operator mindset

Counsel from people who have run companies.

Our team has built, bought and operated real businesses. We sit on boards, roll up our sleeves on the hard problems, and bring operating judgement — not just financial engineering — to every portfolio company.

03 · Founder alignment

Your legacy is part of the deal.

We structure transitions around what the founder, the team and the customers need. Many of our owners stay on, retain equity, and keep leading — because continuity is worth more than a clean break.

04 · Discretion

Quiet, considered, private.

We move carefully and confidentially. No publicity theatre, no rebranding for sport. A company that took decades to earn its name should not lose it in a quarter.

05 · Concentrated portfolio

Few companies. Deep attention.

We hold a small number of businesses so each one gets genuine, sustained attention. You will not be a line item in a hundred-company empire.

06 · Long horizon

Measured in decades.

We underwrite for compounding over the very long term. The decisions we make in year one are the ones we still want to have made in year twenty.

How we work

A measured path from first call to long-term partnership.

There is no auction drama and no ticking clock. We move at the pace of understanding — but we do move.

01

Introduction

A confidential first conversation. We learn what you have built, where you want it to go, and what you need from a partner — financial, operational, personal.

02

Understanding

We dig into the business, the market and the team — not to find reasons to walk away, but to understand how best to help it thrive under our ownership.

03

Structure

We shape a transition around your goals — price, timing, your ongoing role, the team's future — and agree terms that protect the business through handover.

04

Stewardship

Closing is the beginning. We settle in for the long term — supporting growth, reinvesting, and letting the business compound with patient, permanent capital.

The register

Where we focus our holdings.

A holdings group is, in essence, a register of companies under common stewardship. Ours spans established, cash-generative businesses in sectors we can understand deeply and support operationally.

Technical & property services

Building services, facilities management, maintenance and trades businesses — the unglamorous, essential operators that keep the built world running, including our UAE operating company, European Technical.

FacilitiesTradesUAE

Industrial & engineered products

Manufacturing, specialist engineering and distribution businesses with defensible know-how, long customer relationships and room to grow under sustained, patient ownership.

ManufacturingEngineeringDistribution

Business & professional services

Established services firms — B2B services, technical consultancies, specialist agencies — where reputation and people are the product and continuity is the moat.

We are sector-flexible and led by the quality of the business and the people behind it, rather than by a rigid thesis. If your company is profitable, admired in its market, and you are thinking about its next chapter, we would like to hear from you.

Questions founders ask

The first things people want to know.

A few of the conversations we have most often. For the full set, see our frequently asked questions.

Private equity funds invest other people's money on a fixed timetable — they typically must sell within five to seven years to return capital to their investors. Dunsfold Group invests from a permanent balance sheet with no such deadline. We can hold a great business for decades, which lets us make decisions for the long term rather than for the next exit.

Both are possible. We acquire majority stakes and significant minority stakes, and we actively encourage founders who want to keep leading to stay on — often retaining equity and continuing to run the business day to day, with our capital and counsel behind them. The shape of the transition is built around you.

Established, profitable companies with a real reputation in their market, a capable team, and a founder or owner thinking about the next chapter. We are sector-flexible but focus on technical and property services, industrial and engineered products, and business and professional services. See the full FAQ for more detail.
